Helmshore Mills Textile Museum has gone through final, major improvements. New displays, a recommended route round the museum and improved visitor facilities have all been completed. This exciting £1 million project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, now offers a substantial and enjoyable visitor and learning experience. Museum of local history and general interest, housed in a former mill owner's residence, built in 1840 for the Hardman family. Capture the atmosphere of the period in the Victorian drawing room, marvel at the Tiger and Python in the natural history display, and learn about Rossendale's past in this compact museum, situated in the expanse of Whitaker Park. A programme of temporary exhibitions are held in the museum's two gallery spaces.
